VIDEO: A Wave of Posts About Erdoğan's 'Death' Emerges on Turkish Social Media; Authorities Launch Investigation

A wave of posts regarding Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has emerged on Turkish social media using the hashtag #olmus (he has died). This was reported by the Russian service of the BBC.

The police have now initiated an investigation into 30 individuals accused of spreading misinformation.

Supporters of Erdoğan have responded with posts and videos showing that the Turkish leader is still healthy. The head of the president's press service, Fahrettin Altun, posted a video on Twitter in which Erdoğan is seen walking unaided.

“Trust your friend, fear your enemy,” Altun wrote alongside the video.

The media notes that, indeed, Erdoğan's gait in the video cannot be described as lively or vigorous. There have been constant rumors in Turkey regarding Erdoğan's health issues. Almost no official information about the president's health condition is provided to the public.
