QR Code or Certificate Required for Cultural Institutions and Restaurants Starting December 15

The Ministry of Health may change regulations concerning unvaccinated individuals against Covid. According to these regulations, starting from December 1, individuals may be required to present a negative PCR test to their employers once a week, instead of the current requirement of every 14 days. Additionally, beginning December 15, a QR code or certificate proving vaccination will be necessary to visit cultural institutions and restaurants.

“These will be discussed by the inter-agency commission before final approval,” said Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan.

Until the new restrictions are implemented, Armenia continues to be in the worst phase of Covid's spread and mortality rate. Today, 41 people have died from the disease, bringing the total number of deaths in Armenia due to the virus to 7,849, including over 1,000 individuals who were reported by the ministry to have had Covid but died from other causes.

According to Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan, there is a noticeable decrease in the average age of individuals suffering from complications and mortality from the disease. “When the delta variant was first circulating and then penetrated Armenia, it was frequently highlighted that this variant exhibits a much more aggressive behavior in terms of both younger age groups and the severity of the disease, which we are now observing,” emphasized the minister.
