KP Members in Syunik Have Engaged in Open Terrorism: 'Hraparak'
'Hraparak' newspaper reports that in Syunik, members of the ruling Civil Contract party have engaged in open terrorism, particularly pressuring officials to ensure the victory of the party's candidate in the November 14 local elections in Kapan.
Yesterday, it was reported that Syunik's Deputy Governor Narek Babayan has issued directives to the staff of the regional administration, specifically tasking school principals, especially from state institutions, to mobilize support for the candidate.
The head of the education department, Meri Gandalyan, has refused to comply and has faced pressure regarding her position. Gandalyan stated that she was told to submit her resignation, but she has not done so, and an official investigation has been initiated against her.
'I have not submitted a resignation request; an investigation has simply begun,' said Gandalyan.
When asked if it is true that she has been forced to work in favor of the KP, she responded, 'There has been no coercion; I was merely offered to write a resignation and leave, and I said I would not write it.'
When questioned whether they explained why such a proposal was made to her, Gandalyan replied, 'Not yet. The investigation is until November 9; my authority has been suspended, and I will wait for the process to unfold.'
