Germany Records High with 33,949 New COVID-19 Cases in a Single Day
In Germany, the number of newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in one day has reached 33,949. This is the highest number since the beginning of the pandemic, according to data published on Thursday by the Robert Koch Institute in Berlin.
The previous record was recorded on April 22, 2021, when 29,518 cases were identified in one day. The number of deaths due to the coronavirus in the past 24 hours has reached 165.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, 4,672,368 people have been infected in Germany. The seven-day incidence rate of the virus (the number of infections per 100,000 people over a week) stands at 154.5, up from 130.2 a week ago.
The number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients per 100,000 residents over the past week (a significant indicator for potential public life restrictions) is 3.62, compared to 3.29 the previous day.
