Claiming that being in prison will be a blessing is beyond all imagination: "Fact"
The newspaper "Fact" writes: "We want to create a new penitentiary institution where being there, in a way, will be a blessing." If you didn’t know, you would never guess who the author of such a "masterpiece" is: this formulation was given by Armenia's Minister of Justice while discussing the closure and merger of 2-3 prisons into one that will be something unprecedented.
However, the discussion is not about the effectiveness or lack thereof of this move. It’s about Karen Andreasyan’s statement. Is being in a penitentiary institution a blessing? Seriously? Of course, it’s great that "there will be conditions that are absolutely well protected for human rights," but to claim that for a person being placed in prison will be a blessing transcends even the brightest imagination.
In general, the members of this government periodically make such statements that are even out of elementary logic. For example, the Minister of Economy makes at least one such statement per week. The last one was that they are reducing the New Year and Christmas holidays so that people spend less, to prevent inflation. Well, just remove salaries and pensions, only the authorities will spend money, and there will be absolutely no inflation.
The Minister of Health also says that there is nothing terrible about waiting in line for vaccination. What about the likelihood of infection, the loss of time, the risk of losing one’s job, the stress? Are these not considerations? It’s hard to say whether this is a simple characterization of the current authorities or if the ministers are deliberately making such statements with the intention of engaging the public in some "extraordinary" topics. But regardless, it is no longer laughable.
