Pfizer Vaccine to be Administered to Children Aged 5 to 11 in the US

The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention voted on Tuesday in favor of recommending doses of the Pfizer and BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for children aged 5 to 11. This move is a significant step that will allow pediatricians to start administering the vaccine to the 28 million children eligible in the United States. CNBC reports on this development.

CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky confirmed the recommendation from the Advisory Committee. According to the media, vaccinations for children in the specified age group could start immediately after the recommendation's approval. The vaccine will be administered to children in smaller doses, one-third the amount given to teenagers and adults.
