Employees of Kosh and Hrazdan Penitentiaries in Desperate Situation
The newspaper "Iravunk" reports that, according to the government's decision, the Kosh and Hrazdan penitentiaries will cease their operations starting January 1. According to the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia, the decision regarding the Hrazdan prison will result in approximately 500 million drams in savings on a phased basis, considering the need for financial resources for the period during which staff members will be in reserve.
The cessation of operations at Kosh may allow for the resolution of staffing issues in other penitentiaries, as well as the filling of around 50 positions in the Probation Service's human resources. However, according to information received by "Iravunk," employees of the Kosh and Hrazdan penitentiaries find themselves in a desperate situation. They have been told that they will remain unemployed for about four months starting January 1, after which they will be accommodated in new positions.
As for how they will survive during those months or who will pay their utility bills and loans, it seems that no one is particularly concerned.
