The Budget of the NSS Exceeds That of the MoD by 3.6 Times: 'Zhoghovurd'

'Zhoghovurd' newspaper reports: In a country facing issues in border arrangements and defense, the budget of the National Security Service (NSS) is significantly increasing. The discussions on the draft budget for 2022 have already begun in the National Assembly, and it was expected that military expenditures, especially following last year's war in Artsakh, would sharply increase. However, it is the NSS that has registered a rapid growth in its budget.

According to the 2022 budget, the Ministry of Defense is allocated 345 billion 420.8 million drams. For comparison, it is highlighted that the budget of Azerbaijan's Ministry of Defense will amount to $2.7 billion in 2022, which is 3.6 times more than Armenia's military budget.

In contrast to the Ministry of Defense, the budget of the National Security Service has increased by 22.85% this year, reaching 42 billion drams. Of course, considering the issues of border arrangements, greater funds should have been allocated to the Ministry of Defense.
