Facebook to Discontinue Facial Recognition System
Facebook's management has decided to discontinue its facial recognition system. This was announced in a release on the Meta company's website, which owns the social network, according to TASS.
“We are discontinuing Facebook’s facial recognition system. People who have opted to use it will no longer be automatically recognized in photos and videos. We will delete facial recognition templates for more than a billion people,” the statement reads.
Users have complained that the system allows Facebook’s administration to collect and store their biometric data.
