Economic Consequences of Opening the Armenia-Turkey Border Not Included in 2022 Budget: Kerobyan
The economic consequences of opening the Armenia-Turkey border are not included in the economic forecasts of the 2022 state budget. This was stated today by Armenia's Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan during a joint meeting of the National Assembly's permanent committees on economic, financial, and budgetary matters while discussing the draft state budget for 2022.
“Therefore, discussions about it at this point are premature. We do not expect that in the manner in which the interests of Armenian citizens and the economy will be protected, we will be able to open the Armenia-Turkey border next year. That forecast is not included in our budget draft,” said Kerobyan in response to a question from Arthur Khachatryan, a member of the National Assembly from the 'Armenia' faction.
It should be noted that discussions on the draft budget for 2022 began on October 25 in the parliamentary committees. The document will be discussed in a full session of the National Assembly starting from November 16, 2021.
