Boxing World Championship: Davit Chaloyan Advances to Semifinals with Match Against Azerbaijani Rival Ahead
At the ongoing Boxing World Championship in Serbia, Armenian representative Davit Chaloyan secured victory and advanced to the semifinals, ensuring the first medal for the Armenian national team.
Davit Chaloyan has already clinched at least a bronze medal in the championship. This information has been reported by the Armenian Boxing Federation.
In the quarterfinals, our athlete celebrated a victory over Uzbekistan's Lalizbek Molujanov with a determined comeback. After losing the first round with a score of 5:0, Chaloyan made an impressive comeback in the second and third rounds, taking the victory from his opponent. Notably, this is the first time Armenia will have a prizewinner in the super heavyweight category at the world championship, as noted on the Federation's Facebook page.
In the semifinals, Davit Chaloyan will face Azerbaijani representative Mahammad Abdulaev. Today, double European champion Hovhannes Bachkov will also enter the ring to compete in the semifinals. Among the Armenian representatives, only Chaloyan and Bachkov are competing in the championship.
