Artur Ghazinyan Fails to Be Elected for the 10th Time

The "Hayastan" faction has nominated Artur Ghazinyan for the position of Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly's Standing Committee on Defense and Security for the 10th time. The Chairman of the Committee, Andranik Kocharyan, pointed out that the leader of the "Hayastan" faction, Seyran Ohanyan, was absent from the meeting. Nevertheless, he raised his question: "Mr. Ohanyan, is this your proposal or Robert Kocharyan's? Because this cyclical motion has already gone beyond logic. You yourself understand that we need to provide a legislative regulation for this. So that Tuesdays do not turn into Ghazinyan days, either take steps that depend on you or at least present your own candidate. Respect the 'Law on the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly.'"

Permanent committee member Vilen Gabrielyan stated that the "Hayastan" faction's behavior is an abuse of legal rights. MP Vahagn Aleksanyan pointed out that Artur Ghazinyan, the candidate for the so-called jubilee tenth election, should at least have been present. Members of the "Civil Contract" faction unanimously voted against Ghazinyan's candidacy for the tenth time. According to the D'Hondt method, the opposition faction must present a new candidate within five days.
