Another Incompetent Minister of Armenia's De Facto Pro-Turkish Government Makes Anti-Armenian Claim: Expert

Turkologist Varuzhan Geghamyan posted on his Facebook page: “For almost 5 years, Turkey has officially occupied a significant part of the sovereign territory of Syria and is building a Turkish state there. In the attached map, the two areas conquered by the Turks in northern Syria are marked in green—these are pockets. Recently, against the backdrop of talks about Turkey starting a new military operation in Syria, Ankara has presented a demand in various formats to establish a land connection—a corridor—between these two territories. In other words, they have conquered two separate areas, and now they need to connect them to accelerate their appropriation.

However, as you know, the main corridor that Turkey desperately wants to obtain is in Syunik, which has seen unprecedented efforts in the last 12 months—ranging from diplomatic/military arenas to propaganda. I remind you once again that the 'Turkic/Zangezur Corridor' passing through Syunik will deprive Armenia of any opportunity for development.

Instead of fighting against the Turks’ predatory ambitions, another incompetent minister of Armenia’s de facto pro-Turkish government has today made yet another anti-Armenian statement: 'As a people, we must clarify the borders of our country; whether that is good or bad is another issue, but it must be clear, and we must aim to strengthen ourselves within those borders.' Our people have long clarified the borders of our country through living, fighting, building, and sacrificing on this land. In the last three decades alone, the borders delineated by the blood of our people’s many heroic sons are now given away by the political force that speaks of 'land borders' referring to the borders demanded by our enemies, Azerbaijan and Turkey.

It is clear to any thoughtful person who understands the region and politics that after these concessions, new concessions will be demanded from us—constantly changing our borders and completely depriving us of any opportunity for development. Not removing Armenia’s capitulating authorities means conceding the last piece of the homeland of the Armenian people to Turkey and Azerbaijan. This has long been an obvious truth.”
