Will Parking in Front of Schools Be Prohibited? The Deputy Chief of Police Responds
“For a week now, schools have been closed, and traffic in the city is regulated, especially there are no vehicle traffic jams near schools. However, on school days, for many mothers, it becomes a leisure activity to take their children to school and then spend 4 hours wandering around the city before returning to pick them up, thus making traffic unbearable in our city. Is there a possibility to at least prohibit parking near schools?” Deputy Chief of Police Ara Fidanyan was questioned by MP Gegham Nazaryan.
In response, Fidanyan agreed that there are indeed significant vehicle traffic jams at certain times in front of schools and added that the possibility of prohibiting parking in front of schools is being discussed. “However, it will take us a long time to implement this program as we need to thoroughly analyze which areas are particularly affected by this situation. Because we may prohibit parking near schools, but traffic jams might occur 100 meters away. Therefore, significant analysis is necessary here as well, and I am confident we will achieve results,” he noted.
