Urgent Court Hearing in Armen Charcian's Case Postponed
In the courtroom of the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction, Avan and Nor Nork division, presided over by Judge Vahe Misakyan, the urgent court hearing regarding Armen Charcian, the former director of the 'Izmirlian' Medical Center, member of the 'Armenia' parliamentary group, and professor, took place where the names of five members of the medical commission were confirmed.
The commission experts included therapist Naira Gogyan, endocrinologist Kristine Sargsyan, cardiologist Hamlet Hayrapetyan, cardiologist Lusine Tunyan, and doctor Arshak Ghazaryan. The doctors stated that they have no familial relations with Armen Charcian.
Judge Misakyan announced that an additional five experts need to be selected, bringing the total number to ten.
The court hearing in Armen Charcian's case was postponed, as not all the experts were present at the session. The next hearing is scheduled for November 2 at 15:30.
It is noteworthy that the Court of Appeals of the Republic of Armenia had accepted the prosecutor's appeal against Charcian's release on bail. Following the court's decision, Armen Charcian voluntarily reported to the correctional facility and was subsequently detained. Charcian's health condition deteriorated, leading to his transfer to a civilian hospital. On August 24, Charcian suffered an acute myocardial infarction and has severe diabetes, requiring 92 units of insulin, which is fundamentally incompatible with detention, as confirmed by Government Decision 825N.
Charcian has been charged under Article 154.2, Part 4, Item 2 of the RA Penal Code (bribery to voters, receiving bribes, violation of the prohibition of charity during elections, or obstructing the exercise of a voter's free will).
