Shooting Incident in Yerevan Leaves Man Dead

At 02:10 AM on November 1, 2021, the police received a report from a resident of Yerevan about gunshots heard from a neighbor’s house. According to a report received from the 'Surb Astvatsamayr' medical center at the same time, a man aged 45-47 was transported to the hospital in a deceased state. This was reported by the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia.

“Upon examination of the body, gunshot-like injuries were found on the anterior surface of the chest and the upper left back, as well as a 3 cm cut-puncture wound in the right groin area. During the examination of the crime scene, two fired cartridges of 7.62mm caliber were discovered, along with one round of the same caliber and traces of blood. Measures taken resulted in the identification of the deceased man, a city resident born in 1980.

In connection with the incident, a criminal case has been opened by the investigative unit of the Shengavit Administrative District of the Yerevan Investigative Department under parts 1 of Article 104 and Article 235 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia, with the investigation assigned to an investigative group. Forensic examinations have been ordered and the victim's clothing has been seized. Further investigative and procedural actions are being carried out, and necessary measures are in progress to clarify all circumstances of the case, as well as to identify, locate, and bring to justice the person allegedly responsible for the crime. The investigation is ongoing,” the statement reads.
