Robert Sukiasyan Released on Bail: Details
Businessman and member of the 'Civil Contract' party, Khachatur Sukiasyan's brother, Robert Sukiasyan, has been released. The information was confirmed by lawyer Gor Mikayelyan, who noted that the Yerevan General Jurisdiction Court, chaired by Judge Vache Margaryan, accepted the motion for Sukiasyan's release on bail, setting the bail amount at 50 million drams. The bail amount has already been transferred to the court's deposit account, after which Sukiasyan was released.
Mikayelyan indicated that a bail application had been submitted, considering that the investigator had decided to discontinue proceedings against one of the defendants, which, according to the lawyer, implies that the investigator had gathered all possible evidence. According to the defense, if the prosecuting authority was confident that no one else would provide information regarding the incident, then keeping Sukiasyan in custody was unnecessary, given that he had initially been detained to prevent any unlawful influence on witnesses who had not yet been interrogated, and that, in this case, such individuals no longer exist. This new circumstance formed the basis for the bail application, which was granted.
Regarding Sukiasyan's involvement in investigative actions, the lawyer stated that he had participated in confrontational interrogations, and that the description of Sukiasyan’s charges had been amended. Specifically, according to the preliminary description of the charges against Sukiasyan, he had originally been present at the scene; however, the investigative body has now altered the description, stating that Sukiasyan was not at the scene initially, but rather happened to witness the incident and intervened.
‘This fact has been confirmed in the criminal case. It is crucial for us because if a person does not go specifically to fight but instead intervenes upon witnessing certain circumstances, which the investigator has confirmed with the revised charges, it implies that there cannot be any hooliganism in his actions,’ emphasized the lawyer. The lawyer also informed that the preliminary investigation has been concluded, and the case has been sent to the prosecutor's office for approval of the indictment and forwarding to court.
