National Security Service Budget to Increase: Funding Allocations for 2022

The Minister of Finance of the Republic of Armenia, Tigran Khachatryan, presented the budget allocations for the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Police, and the National Security Service for the year 2022 during a parliamentary session today.

It was outlined that the Ministry of Emergency Situations plans to implement six programs comprising nine activities in the upcoming year. The presented programs include regulation of technical safety standards, development of emergency response capabilities, seismic protection, rescue services, management of strategically important resources, and the formulation of state policy in the field of emergency situations.

Minister Khachatryan noted that the budget proposal for the Ministry of Emergency Situations for 2022 is set at 13 billion 975.8 million drams.

The Police are set to implement two programs in 2022, which include 11 activities. The programs pertain to educational services and the development and management of police sector policies. The budget proposal for the Police in 2022 amounts to 66 billion 585.6 million drams.

For the National Security Service, the state budget for 2022 allocates funding for two programs: ensuring state protection and national security. Tigran Khachatryan stated that the budget for the National Security Service in 2022 is set at 42 billion 669 million drams, which is an increase of 22.85 percent compared to the approved budget for 2021.
