A Global Food Crisis Is Beginning: Medvedev Highlights Rising Prices
A global food crisis is beginning. This was announced today by Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia, in an article published in Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
“Food prices are rising everywhere, and inflation is accelerating. It is evident that a global food crisis is starting,” the politician stated.
Medvedev emphasized that at this moment, no one can predict how to overcome the decline of the global economy. According to him, what is happening now in the global economy is much more serious than the financial crisis of 2008-2009.
According to the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia, to overcome the consequences of the global downturn, effective policies aimed at restoring the economy and maintaining price stability are necessary. “In some countries, the already high levels of debt and unprecedented rates of inflation pose new challenges. A lot will depend on the tempo of resuming external trade, especially in terms of exports and imports of services,” Medvedev clarified.
