The Armenia Faction Met with the Russian Ambassador Yesterday

The Armenia faction met yesterday with Sergey Kopirkin, the Russian Ambassador to Armenia, as part of its council. This was announced by the faction leader Seyran Ohanyan during a parliamentary briefing.

He also noted that there had been separate meetings prior to this. “This meeting extended longer than planned since the Russian ambassador had certain personal issues. During the meeting with Kopirkin, we presented the current situation and our faction's views regarding the existing geopolitical conditions. Additionally, we discussed the situation around Armenia, emphasizing the importance of Armenian-Russian cooperation,” said Ohanyan.

According to him, there was also a discussion regarding the joint troop formations and the activities of border guards. Moreover, certain issues were discussed that he cannot publicly disclose.

As for the reports regarding a trilateral meeting set for November 9 between Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Russia, during which a new agreement might be signed, Ohanyan mentioned that they had inquired with Kopirkin about that. However, the Russian ambassador replied that he did not have full information on the matter.

It is worth noting that during a question-and-answer session with the government in the National Assembly on October 27, Armenia's Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated that there were currently no meetings planned between the Armenian Prime Minister and the Azerbaijani President in that format. He added that currently, proposals for different meetings in various formats are being discussed, and presumably, as a result of such potential meetings, there might be a publication of an agreed text.
