Order for Actions at Armenian Borders Should Have Been Written: Ohanyan

Actions concerning the Armenian border should be executed through written orders and by the competent authority. This opinion was expressed by former Minister of Defense and leader of the 'Armenia' faction Seyran Ohanyan during a parliamentary briefing, referring to the withdrawal of our troops from certain areas of Syunik following the war.

Yesterday, during a Q&A session with the government, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that before issuing the order for the withdrawal of Armenian troops from Syunik, a session of the National Security Council was not convened. He personally issued that order.

“The entire operation should have been carried out in accordance with military management procedures, and an authority should have been formed that would have issued written or verbal instructions. After Pashinyan's statement, it was unclear through which authority such a decision was made. The document of November 9 states that the parties remain where they are at that moment, and no one could have given a verbal order for withdrawal,” said Ohanyan.

According to him, a competent leader would have given instructions at strategically significant locations, standing in a favorable position for us, and would have pushed a bit further ahead. This did not happen; moreover, the adversary invaded into the territory of Armenia and began to establish borders for themselves.

Aram Vardevanyan, a member of the 'Armenia' alliance, also noted that if we lived in a legal and popular state, the prosecutor's office would prepare materials based on Pashinyan's statement regarding the withdrawal of troops from Syunik.
