From Mandatory Mask Wearing in Streets to Limited Attendance at Events: New Restrictions
In response to the ongoing situation with the coronavirus in the country, the Ministry of Health is set to introduce new restrictions aimed at combating the spread of the virus. The matter is already under discussion at the ministry.
The information was confirmed in an interview with Lilit Babakhanian, the head of the public relations department of the Ministry of Health.
One of the anticipated restrictions will be the mandatory wearing of masks in open spaces. Additionally, the ministry has decided to limit the number of participants in mass events, allowing up to 60 people at funerals, for instance.
There will also be changes to the new regulations that came into force on October 1, according to which working citizens who have not been vaccinated against COVID-19 must present their employer with either a PCR test result or proof of vaccination every two weeks. However, it is planned to reduce this interval from 14 days to 7 days. In other words, working citizens will need to present their test results to their employers every week.
It should be recalled that earlier, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had stated that Armenia would not enter a lockdown, but some restrictions would be implemented: “The rules regarding mask-wearing will be tightened, and it is not excluded that we may adopt a general mask mandate in open spaces. When there is a general requirement for mask-wearing, it is better to enhance enforcement,” he said.
