What is Turkey's Main Goal in Syria: Bloomberg

In an interview with American Bloomberg, Turkish sources revealed that Turkey has intensified preparations to launch military operations in Rojava. One source indicated that Turkey's objective is to seize Kobani in consideration of controlling the eastern Euphrates and western regions.

This information was reported by Bloomberg in an article titled "Turkey Reinforces Its Forces in Syria for Possible Attack Against US Ally."

The article notes that Ankara is taking steps to act against the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), which are primarily composed of the People's Protection Units (YPG). It emphasizes that hundreds of soldiers have been sent to northern Syria as part of these operations directed against forces supported by the United States.

"With the planned operation, Turkey aims to control two-thirds of the 910-kilometer-long border. The goal is to capture Ain al-Arab (Kobani) to take control of the eastern Euphrates and western regions," one anonymous source stated. Another source added that Turkey also aims to take over the Menagh airbase near Azaz.

These officials highlighted that Ankara has disclosed the withdrawal of Turkish forces from certain areas of the M4 highway in southern Idlib as a tactical maneuver, so that Moscow does not overtly oppose Turkey's military plans, as reported by Ermenihaber.
