The State of the Press is Good: Remember the ADF, No One has Hidden That Pashinyan was the Editor
In Armenia, the press is so free that relatives of our senior officials work in opposition newspapers. There is no need for further proof that the press is free in Armenia. This was stated by the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Ruben Rubinyan, during the discussion of the bill on amendments to the Law on Mass Media.
According to him, the press in Armenia is now dependent not on the government but on the opposition. “Part of the press, according to rumors, belongs to Serzh Sargsyan’s son-in-law, and another part is connected with Robert Kocharyan. For example, the ‘7 Days’ media outlet has no connection to Robert Kocharyan; who can say how it could be linked to Robert Kocharyan? You continuously refer to the ‘Haykakan Zhamanak’ (ADH), which is another proof that the state of the press is now very good, because you always remember the ADH, which Nikol Pashinyan founded 20 years ago when he was an opposition journalist, and you keep saying ‘flying-flash’ about ADH,” Rubinyan said, noting that the amendments aim to make the press more free from various political circles, oligarchs, and hostile influences.
