On October 27, Armenian Statehood was Decapitated: By Whose Commission Was Our Future Assassinated?
Member of Parliament from the 'Honorary Man' alliance, Takhuhy Tovmasyan, made a post on her Facebook page regarding October 27.
“Today is October 27, a Wednesday... In 1999, the 27th was also a Wednesday, it was the day for MPs' questions and answers with the government of the Republic of Armenia. A band of scoundrels invaded the National Assembly's session hall and assassinated the beloved president of the National Assembly, Karen Demirchyan, the symbol of unity, Prime Minister Vazgen Sargsyan, and several other state officials... Armenian statehood was decapitated, and to this day, questions gnaw at our souls: who, why, and by whose commission was our future assassinated... Today, we will lay flowers, we will light candles, we will mourn, but those questions will only continue to deepen... What chances for a prosperous and strong future for our country have we lost over the years?”
