I Am Ready to Go to Shushi, but Today It's Under Azerbaijani Occupation: Shushi Resident
Displaced residents from Artsakh have once again gathered in front of the government building. They are holding a protest rally, which is attended by displaced individuals from various communities in Artsakh. The interests of forcibly displaced residents from Shushi were represented by a spokesperson from the NGO 'Shushi's Forcibly Displaced.' In an interview with 'Factinfo,' the representative announced that they will be submitting a request to the government on behalf of all Shushi residents.
Three main issues are being raised: the provision of a status for Artsakh, granting refugee status, and addressing the socio-economic issues facing the population. Representatives from more than 90 families have signed the petition.
The spokesperson stated that everyone wants to be resettled in Artsakh. 'We keep coming and going. The promises that we will be given homes remain just promises. Where can a person stay in Artsakh now? The Shushi resident has lost Shushi, the Hadrut resident has lost Hadrut. I am ready to go to Shushi, but today it is under Azerbaijani occupation. There is no space available in Stepanakert, the situation is terrible.'
They are urging the government to prioritize these three important issues on the agenda. In particular, by granting refugee status, the attention of the international community could be drawn to the displaced individuals.
