Don't You Think About the Hungry Displaced Children Before Going to Sleep? A Resident of Hadrut
A displaced resident of Hadrut, Galya Hayrapetyan, stated in an interview with Pastinfo that she is currently sustaining a household of nine since the end of the war, but without the support of the state. She mentioned that their three-story house and the newly purchased car were handed over to the Azerbaijanis, and they have yet to receive any compensation. Today, they are compelled to rely on the support of neighbors and relatives.
“We haven’t received any support for seven months, not even a thing, be it a blanket or soap. The UN has come to help us rent a house in Ashtarak. I’m doing everything I can to keep my children going; we’ve changed homes nine times. We are so affected and tormented, why aren’t we recognized as refugees, living in a shanty? Why don’t they recognize that we are displaced? We were cut off from the 68,000 and 30,000. How would the rich know what is in the stomach of the poor? When they go to bed, don’t they think about whether these children from Artsakh are hungry or suffering?”
Hayrapetyan noted that no one in her family is working, and they are raising four grandchildren, with their only hope being her husband’s pension. “People have come from France and Germany saying they’ve sent so much money, where is that money, who is eating it that we don’t see to support our family? Whatever they’ve eaten, they’ve filled themselves—what a shame.”
It should be noted that residents displaced from Artsakh have gathered once again near the government building. They are conducting a protest rally, in which displaced individuals from various localities are participating. For nearly a year, those forcibly displaced as a result of the war have had neither permanent housing nor status.
