Investigations Launched into the Deaths of 11-Year-Old and 19-Year-Old Girls

On October 25, 2021, at 18:30, a report was received from the "Ashtarak" medical center regarding two citizens who had been transported to the hospital in an unconscious state. This was announced by the Information and Public Relations Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia.

It was revealed that the 11-year-old girl was admitted to the hospital dead, while her 19-year-old sister died around 19:00 without regaining consciousness.

An inspection of the incident site determined that the house located on the 3rd street of Karbi village, Aragatsotn region, was not connected to the gas supply. However, a homemade gas cylinder system had been installed in the yard, through which gas was transported to the kitchen via a rubber hose. There, a gas-fired water heater and a gas stove were in operation, while there were no chimney or air vent paths present at all.

During the investigation, it was found by a utility worker from the gas emergency service, using a relevant device, that there was a gas leak in the kitchen.

Materials are being prepared in the Aragatsotn regional investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia regarding this incident. Forensic examinations of the bodies have been appointed.
