We Expect Azerbaijan to End Tax Collection: Iranian Ambassador to Armenia on Taxing Drivers
The Iranian ambassador to Armenia, Abbas Badakhshan Za'huri, condemned Azerbaijan's "unacceptable action" of demanding taxes from Iranian drivers passing through the Goris-Kapan road segment, stating that taxing on the road is contrary to the ceasefire.
"According to the trilateral negotiations between Russia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan, which resulted in a ceasefire between Yerevan and Baku, the situation on the transit road located in the south of Armenia should have remained unchanged until the completion of the construction of a new road," emphasized the Iranian ambassador.
"Iranian freight trucks pay taxes upon arriving in Armenia and are not planning to pay an additional tax 100 km earlier. We expect Azerbaijan to put an end to this (tax collection), as long as the construction of the additional road is not complete," added the Iranian diplomat.
