Tourists Recorded Video Before Arrest in Turkey
Seven Russian citizens have been arrested in Antalya on suspicion of unintentional forest arson. This was reported by RIA Novosti, citing the Russian consulate general. The incident occurred on Saturday in the Çaglarca region while the tourists were walking along the Lycians Path.
Law enforcement officials have compiled reports and taken testimony from the suspects and witnesses. Turkish media reports that the seven Russian tourists, suspected of causing the forest fire, had built a campfire in the area where the fire later broke out.
The court has decided to imprison the Russian tourists. Before their arrest, the tourists recorded a video in which they stated their innocence, mentioning that the court made a quick decision regarding their detention.
One of the Russian tourists recounted that they had noticed the fire while walking and tried to extinguish it, but locals stopped them and called the gendarmerie.
Previously, Turkish media reported on the arrest of another group that possessed passports of Russian citizenship, who are accused of espionage.
