School Holidays to Be Extended, Universities Recommended to Switch to Remote Learning

The spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, Hripsime Khachatryan, stated in an interview with Iravaban.net that school holidays will be extended by one week. The ministry has also recommended universities to transition to remote learning.

"The situation in the world is tense; we are experiencing a shortage of both hospital beds and professional capacity. Approximately 15 days ago, universities were advised to switch to remote learning indefinitely, and schools have been informed that their holidays will be extended by one week," she noted.

According to Khachatryan, the same applies to kindergartens. When discussing the possibility of entering a lockdown, she mentioned that the state is not yet economically prepared for this.

It is noted that the days of vacation had been determined by the instruction of the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, but they will now be extended. According to the minister’s existing order, first graders are scheduled to have their autumn holidays from October 18 to 31, 2021, inclusive. Second graders' autumn holidays are from October 25 to 31, 2021, inclusive. For grades 3-12, students will have holidays from October 25 to 31, 2021, inclusive.
