Soon We Expect the Activation of the Shameful Processes of Armenian-Turkish 'Reconciliation': Abovyan
A curious situation is developing around the upcoming signing of certain documents between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Former MP Arman Abovyan addressed this topic on his Facebook page.
“The Armenian Foreign Ministry has announced that no meetings of state leaders are currently scheduled with an agenda for signing documents. However, it is presumed that both the signing of documents and a meeting are expected; the only question is about the dates and locations of the signing. In fact, preparations are underway for the signing of an agreement on delimitation and demarcation between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
If we consider the issue in a legal context, then the agreement on delimitation and demarcation with Azerbaijan, a hostile state to Armenians, automatically implies partial recognition of borders and territorial integrity right from the outset. In other words, whatever the Pashinyan government may tell us, the beginning of the delimitation process will signify the recognition of the Artsakh issue as an internal affair of Azerbaijan, which in turn will mean the political dismantling of the Republic of Artsakh. It does not matter how long the dismantling process will continue; the most important thing is that Armenia rejects the idea of full and unconditional independence for Artsakh, replacing it with the notion of 'security and self-determination for Armenians,' which at most implies some form of 'self-determination' within Azerbaijan. Consequently, over time, the indigenous Armenian population of Artsakh will either be eliminated or will have to leave Artsakh, and that's it... The question of Artsakh will be closed forever.
The example of Nakhchivan clearly shows what Armenians can expect in the event of such so-called 'peaceful' developments.
The issue of unblocking communications has another very important nuance that the Pashinyan government prefers not to discuss. The Armenian side talks about the unacceptability of the 'Zangezur corridor,' which is supported by Iran and Russia. However, even if we assume that there will be no corridor, but Nakhchivan will exist—meaning an international overland transit route connecting Turkey and Azerbaijan under the control of Russian border guards and the Armenian customs service—then we can say with a hundred percent certainty that the same will be true for the 'Lachin corridor' connecting Armenia and Artsakh.
This means that Armenians and Armenian goods heading to Artsakh will have to cross what is referred to as Azerbaijan's 'state border,' with mirror tariffs and taxes paid into the Azerbaijani budget. God help with those payments, but do you at least understand what this means and what it entails?
The analysis of the actions of the Armenian authorities clearly speaks to the following: by declaring a 'new era of peace' in the region, the Armenian authorities are paying the notorious 'peace' price with the political destruction of Artsakh, agreeing to become the connecting link in the Turkish 'Great Turan' project, consenting to the control of Armenia's primary logistical hubs by Azerbaijan and Turkey (the delimitation will clearly illustrate this) in both Georgian and Iranian directions. Ultimately, we will face the partition of Armenia and the threat of a major war.
It does not have to happen tomorrow or in a year, but if there is an agreement on delimitation and the opening of communications, the scenario for the destruction of Armenian states without a clear definition of Artsakh's independent status is inevitable, and there is no doubt about that.
P.S. By the way, we soon expect the activation of the shameful processes of Armenian-Turkish 'reconciliation' according to the Turkish scenario,” he wrote.
