Arushanyan Chooses Goris: Statement

Last Sunday, in the Goris local government elections, Arush Arushanyan, who won while in custody, has made a decision whether to remain in Goris as mayor or take up the parliamentary mandate. This was stated by the "Arush Arushanyan" alliance on Facebook.

“We remind you that the mandate was vacated by David Sedrakyan, a member of the ‘Armenia’ alliance, and the next in line is Arush Arushanyan. We were informed that at the request of Vahe Hakobyan, the president of the 'Renaissance Armenia' party, lawyer Erik Aleksanyan visited the ‘Yerevan-Kentron Detention Facility’ to find out which option Arushanyan would choose—whether the mandate or Goris,” said the statement.

Arushanyan has chosen Goris. In a conversation with us, Erik Aleksanyan, Arush Arushanyan's lawyer, confirmed that Arushanyan supports his father's position and will not take the mandate.

The next person on the 'Armenia' alliance list is Aspram Krpeyan, the daughter of Tatul Krpeyan, who is likely to occupy the vacant mandate if David Sedrakyan does not withdraw his application for resignation within a week.
