Saakashvili Receives Blood Transfusion
The former President of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, required a blood transfusion due to poor health as a result of a hunger strike. This was reported by his personal doctor, Nikoloz Kipshidze, according to 'RIA Novosti'.
“One of his indicators is very bad, and we have performed a blood transfusion. The transfusion went well. The prison doctors have helped us. So far, everything is good,” the doctor stated.
He noted that the prison medical facility is not designed to carry out such procedures, and they worked practically in field conditions. In his opinion, Saakashvili needs hospital treatment outside of prison.
It is worth recalling that Mikheil Saakashvili was arrested on October 1 when he returned to Georgia to support opposition forces in the municipal elections scheduled for October 2. The former president was sentenced in absentia for assaulting a member of parliament and organizing the murder of a banker. Additionally, he faces charges in several other cases, including embezzling state funds, abuse of power, and unlawfully crossing the state border.
