The 100-Year-Old Armenian Church in Kars is at Risk of Destruction

The century-old Armenian church located in the Kaleici neighborhood of Kars, also known as the "Russian Church," is at risk of permanent destruction. Turkish media outlets report this according to Akunq.net.

According to Armenian sources, the church is referred to as "Russian" because it was also used by Russians at one time. The walls of the church have collapsed, and inside, treasure hunters have dug holes.

The Turkish source emphasizes that historical monuments in Kars are disappearing one by one, while the remaining historical structures are left to fate. It also notes that there is insufficient attention given to the sights in this city, which boasts some of Turkey's most significant historical monuments.

Furthermore, the current residents of Kars have highlighted the necessity of saving the church in conversations with reporters from the Turkish media.
