Details on the Death of an Inmate at Armavir Prison

An inmate at the Armavir penitentiary, born in 1954 and identified as M.S., was placed in a critical condition and summoned an ambulance on October 14. He was subsequently transferred to the Vagharsapat Medical Center.

According to the Corrections Service, M.S. was pronounced dead biologically at approximately 08:20 on October 22 while at Vagharsapat Medical Center.

M.S. had been transferred to the Armavir penitentiary on June 15, 2021, and faced charges under the second part of point 2 of Article 139, third part of the Criminal Code of Armenia.

Measures are being prepared to clarify the circumstances of his death, and a forensic examination has been ordered.
