Consequences of the Colorful Event

Consequences of the Colorful Event

The newspaper "Zhoghvorud" writes that two weeks after the event organized on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Republic of Armenia's independence (which Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan labeled as "colorful"), the numbers of coronavirus cases sharply began to rise.

"Zhoghvorud" sent an inquiry to the Ministry of Health to clarify whether the ministry's experts and agencies had informed the government and the Prime Minister that organizing an outdoor event could contribute to the spread of the virus and the increase in case numbers. In response to our inquiry, the ministry stated that the rise in case numbers was not recorded two weeks after September 21, but rather after September 1, when classes began in educational institutions.

The ministry provided a vague response regarding urging the government and implementing adequate oversight during the event, emphasizing that the responsibility for anti-epidemic measures lies not with them, but with law enforcement agencies. It turns out that the Ministry of Health admits to having noticed an increase in virus spread as early as September, but under the leadership of Minister Anahit Avanesyan, they did not take the risk of addressing representatives of the upper echelon of the government, urging them to refrain from various events that could contribute to the transmission of the virus.

Today, we see a rapidly increasing rate of infection in the country, and to date, the ministry has recorded 5,700 deaths. It turns out that this number does not include cases of citizens who died at home. When we add the 650-700 deceased to this number, the situation becomes even more horrifying.
