Azerbaijan Destroyed 60% of Armenia's Air Defense Systems on the First Day of War, Azerbaijani Media Reports

Azerbaijan intends to purchase new military aircraft. This was announced by Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Defense and Commander of the Air Force, Ramiz Tahirov, according to minval.az.

"The Air Force plans to acquire new aircraft, and negotiations are underway in this direction. Experts have studied the capabilities of the aircraft being offered to us. Perhaps in the near future, the public will be presented with the fact that an aircraft is being acquired," he stated.

The deputy minister also touched upon the tasks assigned to the air forces during the 44-day war. According to Tahirov, from the very first day of the war, the Air Force was tasked with coordinating and destroying Armenia’s air defense systems to ensure Azerbaijan’s superiority in the air.

The commander of the air forces stated that on the first day, 60% of Armenia’s air defense systems were destroyed. "Using the air assets available in our arsenal (aircraft, helicopters), as well as strike drones from the State Border Service (Harop, Sky Striker), we dealt crushing blows to Armenian positions, resulting in a weakening of combat capabilities and resistance. Thus, we created favorable conditions for the advancement of our special forces and ground troops," Tahirov said.
