Azerbaijan and Our Authorities are Pursuing Very Harmful Policies for Us: Elibegova
We have a certain segment of citizens who have reconciled with the existing reality and are willing to continue living in this conciliatory and fearful posture. This was stated by Azerbaijan expert Angela Elibegova during a discussion on the theme of 'Threats to Armenia and Artsakh and Ways to Overcome Them.'
“I hope it is clear to the vast majority of our society that anti-Armenian sentiment in Azerbaijan has not only not diminished but has actually intensified after the war, as they have freed themselves from the complexities of defeat and their behavior has become much more aggressive. This creates issues of coexistence and communication between Armenians and Azerbaijanis,” noted Angela Elibegova.
She added that for years we have tried to explain to the international community why this is complicated and impossible, as history shows that this often ends in massacres of Armenians. According to the expert, today we have a situation where the rhetoric of Azerbaijan's official propaganda and those representing our state at the international level are very similar.
“Both our society and the international community are receiving the same messages from them, which do not reflect the interests of the Armenian people and our state. Azerbaijan and our authorities are simultaneously pursuing very harmful policies for us, implanting the idea in our society's consciousness that the consequences are inevitable and that everything that happened is irreversible. All thoughts about revenge and de-occupation should be uprooted,” said the expert.
