Will the "Pfizer" Vaccine Arrive in Armenia in December?

On July 29, during a government meeting, the Ministry of Health received 3 billion 459 million drams from the reserve fund to acquire new vaccines against coronavirus. With this funding, it was planned to obtain the Chinese Sinopharm and the American-German Pfizer-Biontech vaccines, which, according to the ministry, would increase the percentage of vaccinated individuals by an additional 10%.

On August 18, 200,000 doses of Sinopharm were imported into Armenia, enough for 100,000 people, and on October 18, another 200,000 doses were brought in. It should be noted that Pfizer requires special storage conditions, specifically freezers capable of maintaining temperatures of -70 degrees Celsius. Initially, the vaccine could not be brought in due to these specific storage requirements, but the Ministry of Health resolved this issue back in July, though the vaccine has yet to arrive in Armenia.

According to ArmDaily.am, the "Pfizer" vaccine is expected to be available in Armenia in December. We reached out to the Ministry of Health to clarify the timeline for the acquisition of the vaccine, but we were informed that negotiations are still ongoing and they cannot provide a specific timeline.

It is worth noting that Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan had stated that the vaccine would already be in Armenia by September. The Pfizer vaccine will also be available to all interested individuals, with no age or group restrictions. Furthermore, the Pfizer vaccine is administered in two doses, with a minimum interval of 21 days and a maximum of 42 days.
