The Salaries of Certified Teachers Will Increase from November: The Prime Minister Presented the Project

Currently, the implementation of one of our most important strategic programs is underway. This concerns the voluntary certification of teachers, which, in my opinion, will have a transformative significance. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this at the start of the government session.

According to the Prime Minister, as a result of the certification, their salaries will increase by 30-50 percent starting in November, depending on the points they have accumulated.

“At this stage, we are implementing a program for the voluntary certification of teachers in several subjects. This includes Armenian language and literature, mathematics, history, physics, chemistry, and biology. We will keep the window for voluntary certification open for some time and will expand the list of subjects. Salaries will rise for those teachers who have been certified in the first phase,” Pashinyan noted.

He also mentioned plans for the next phase, during which a second certification will be conducted for certified teachers with higher standards. This means that teachers who have managed to increase their salaries by 30, 40, or 50 percent based on their knowledge and qualifications will have the opportunity to again increase their already raised salaries by another 30, 40, or 50 percent through certification.

“According to our estimates, it will take 3-4 years to fully complete this process, after which we will record that X number of teachers in Armenia have undergone certification. If there are teachers who do not apply for voluntary certification, we will naturally have a question as to why the teacher did not take advantage of the opportunity to double their salary,” the Prime Minister emphasized.
