Surgeons in Egypt Remove Phone Swallowed by Man Six Months Ago
A resident of Egypt has undergone emergency surgery after doctors removed a mobile phone from his stomach that he had swallowed six months prior.
According to Oddity Central, this is the first such surgical intervention of its kind in Egypt. Physicians at the university hospital in Aswan extracted the small-sized phone, which had been lodged in the man's intestines for half a year.
The man, named Mohamed, was admitted to the hospital with severe abdominal pain. A CT scan revealed a foreign object in his intestines. He was immediately prepared for surgery, during which it was discovered that the foreign object was a phone wrapped in a food coating.
The patient, who is now feeling well and able to eat normally, confirmed that he swallowed the phone six months ago. He mentioned that he had a similar experience in the past, but this time the phone did not exit his body naturally.
Mohamed confessed that he had swallowed the mobile phone to avoid handing it over to security personnel during a search. Interestingly, the phone did not cause him significant discomfort for months, allowing him to continue eating normally until severe pain led to his hospitalization.
