Authorities Have Silenced Some to Erase Many Aspects Related to the War: Abrahamyan
I have concerns that the authorities will use this trend to erase a large number of aspects related to the war. This was stated by Tigran Abrahamyan, a member of the National Assembly from the "Honorable Duty" faction, during a discussion of the initiative "Truth for Future Generations".
According to the lawmaker, the authorities have not only prepared the necessary field for this from an informational and political standpoint, but have also managed to silence certain individuals through pressure tactics, preventing them from speaking through intimidation and threats.
"We must state that we can find answers to many of the questions we are seeking only when this government is no longer in power in Armenia. Under the current conditions, we do not have the opportunity to know the truth. We have problems on two levels. The first concerns our missing compatriots, and the second is understanding why history has taken such a course for us and why we find ourselves in this situation today," said Tigran Abrahamyan.
Regarding the missing compatriots, the lawmaker noted that the tools currently being used and the individuals responsible for the fate of our compatriots are working extremely poorly and are not utilizing all available opportunities.
"The fact that the eighth provision of the trilateral statement of November 9, which pertains to the return of prisoners, captives, and missing persons, did not have any time frame compared to the territories handed over to Azerbaijan is significant. In other words, the Armenian authorities were willing to hand over the territories of Karvachar, Akna, and Kashatagh within a time frame, but no clarity was provided regarding 1-2 provisions in that statement that could have presented a favorable opportunity for us," said Tigran Abrahamyan.
