30 Thousand Tons of Potatoes Exported This Year, Setting a Record: Minister of Economy
This year, we have set a record for potato exports. This was stated by the Minister of Economy of Armenia, Vahan Kerobyan, during a conversation with reporters.
According to the minister, 30 thousand tons of potatoes have already been exported from Armenia, which is an unprecedented figure. “Armenia is not a closed country and is interconnected with countries in the same economic union through reciprocal channels. If demand in those countries increases, it also affects the prices of our local products,” said the minister, referring to the rise in potato prices.
Vahan Kerobyan emphasized that farmers should not be deprived of the opportunity to increase their incomes, stating that if there is a chance to export at a higher price, then that is indeed the right price. “Fresh agricultural products are mainly exported to the Eurasian Economic Union. This year, we have very good results. At this point, we have exported approximately 180 thousand tons of fresh agricultural products. We have exported 25-30 percent more than last year,” added Vahan Kerobyan.
