US to Penalize Gazprom for Violating Sanctions

The United States intends to hold the Russian company Gazprom accountable for violating American sanctions. In connection with this, the US Congress and the Department of the Treasury will soon work together to develop appropriate punitive measures.

According to international news sources, this was announced by US Deputy Treasury Secretary Adewale Adeyemo. The US has adopted such a stance following criticism from one of the American senators regarding the authorities' refusal to impose sanctions on the operator of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.
