The Incident from 7 Years Ago and Aghvan Hovsepyan

According to the «Zhoghovurd» daily, it has been over a month and a half since the Investigative Committee of Armenia's former chairman Aghvan Hovsepyan has been in detention. His lawyers have appealed to the Investigative Committee to examine the investigator and prosecutor of the criminal case against Shanti Yuri as part of this investigation.

You might wonder what Aghvan Hovsepyan has to do with this; the connection lies in the fact that the charges against Hovsepyan for fraud and bribery are based on testimonies provided by Yuri.

One of the witnesses against him is his close friend and businessman Yura Garibyan, also known as Shanti Yuri. Therefore, the defense team of former Prosecutor General and Investigative Committee chairman Aghvan Hovsepyan requests to interrogate the investigators and prosecutors who previously handled the case of Yura Garibyan, known by his nickname Shanti Yuri.

While the Special Investigative Service is exploring the circumstances of the case and plans to summon the prosecutor and investigator involved in this criminal matter, «Zhoghovurd» has found some remarkable details regarding an incident that occurred years ago.

Seven years ago, the house of businessman Yura Garibyan was allegedly entered during the day for the purpose of theft by Gechi Samo's son-in-law, Gevorg Sargsyan, known in the criminal world. Reports indicate that he didn’t enter Shanti Yuri’s house for theft, but rather for another purpose.

The attacker is not representative of the lower class, suggesting that there may have been outstanding questions between Yura Garibyan and the individual who broke into his home. It is possible that Gevorg Sargsyan entered Shanti Yuri’s house during the day to settle accounts, which ultimately led to his murder.

This means that the Investigative Committee, along with calling the prosecutors and investigators for questioning, must also delve deeper into the fundamental reasons behind the robbery that took place seven years ago and understand why the well-known son-in-law of Gechi Samo was killed.
