Mikheil Saakashvili to be Hospitalized
The former president of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, who has been on hunger strike for the 20th day, has stated that he is ready to receive medical assistance in order to maintain his mental health. This was reported by RIA Novosti.
On Tuesday, Saakashvili was visited by a panel of doctors established by the Ministry of Health. Later, the panel met with representatives of the Ministry of Justice and proposed to hospitalize the political figure for preventive purposes.
“I am still in prison, I am not receiving any food, and I am even ready to die. At the same time, I want to maintain my sanity and productivity. Therefore, I agree to medical intervention that will help me stay awake and even participate, albeit very limited, in ongoing events so that I can assist Georgia for as long as I can,” Saakashvili’s message, read by his lawyer Dmitry Sadzaglishvili, stated.
