Hospitalization Cases of Pregnant Women Due to Coronavirus Have Increased
The cases of hospitalization of pregnant women have increased due to the intense spread of the Delta variant of the coronavirus. This was stated by Mary Ter-Stepanian, an associate professor at the Department of Epidemiology of Yerevan State Medical University, during a press conference.
“Today, we have a quite significant number of hospitalized pregnant women. Contracting coronavirus during pregnancy poses risks of premature birth and miscarriage. Also noted is intrauterine pneumonia, meaning the development of the infection in the child, which was not as common with previous variants,” mentioned Mary Ter-Stepanian.
She added that this is yet another incentive for pregnant women to consider preventive measures, including vaccination.
