What Happened in Goris Will Have a Multiplicative Effect: Vahe Hakobyan
The municipal elections in Goris and Gyumri revealed the true picture in Armenia, according to Vahe Hakobyan, a member of the National Assembly from the ‘Armenia’ faction, in an interview with News.am.
“During the parliamentary elections, the ruling force shamelessly used administrative resources. This included the military, roaming groups, illegally issued passports, and pressure. What they accuse Arush Arushanyan of doing, certain members of the ruling power were doing in Goris. If Arush Arushanyan was officially supporting and renovating roofs, now they shamelessly divided that money. But it did not help them,” he said.
Hakobyan also noted that authorities brought a large number of police officers to Syunik. “If there had been that many police officers during the days of war, the Turks would not be sitting on our roads today,” he stated.
According to the MP, what happened in Goris will have a multiplicative effect. “It is already visible. People will attempt to run for office and will create a situation that will break the momentum towards dictatorship,” emphasized Vahe Hakobyan. He expressed confidence that there has been a shift in public sentiment: “I am convinced that the segment of the population that voted for Nikol Pashinyan on June 20 now regrets it.”
