Vahan Babayan Responds to Aliyev's Statements Made Yesterday in Varanda
The president of the Reformist Party, Vahan Babayan, wrote on his Facebook page: “The Azerbaijani dictator yesterday announced at the Fizuli airport that Armenians are vandals and have completely destroyed the city of Fizuli. They have occupied and ruined their ‘native land.’
First, the capitulatory coward regime never responds to such accusations. They took the essence of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue and stripped it away; now there's not even a word about Baku and Sumgayit, nor any mention of the atrocities, displacements, and murders committed against Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh at that time, nor about the reasons and conditions for the self-defense in Nagorno-Karabakh. How can one not say that you have given your vote to such immoral people who have erased the entire essence and history of the Karabakh movement and everything that could have put Armenia back on its feet?
Just like in Fizuli and in various places, Armenians fought and liberated their lands, engaged in fierce battles; of course, the city (Fizuli) could not withstand these assaults. This is the true picture of a war when nothing is left of the city; it was not a fake war, it wasn’t winning on Facebook; that was our victory that returned that area to us.
And for those who are uninformed, I don’t hesitate to write that they should avoid the ‘brain implant’ of the homeless and pro-Turkish agenda. Our historic Varanda has once again become Fizuli. Fizuli was recognized as the Armenian sovereign principality of Dizak by Persians from 1603 until 1828. In 1828, it was joined to Russia under the well-known Treaty of Turkmenchay signed between Russia and Persia.
A Russian military base named Karyagino was established here. And only in 1921 did Karyagino become Fizuli, passing to Soviet Azerbaijan and being renamed. Importantly, I should mention that only and only in the days of the previous rulers was most of this area (the western part) liberated, and from August 1993, it came under our control. Those predecessors retained and defended Fizuli or, more accurately, Varanda, while for the Russians, it might have been Karyagino, and the velvet pro-Turkish junta generously gifted it back to the Turk, who today boasts and opens airports, waiting for the blessing of his elder brother, Erdogan.
P.S. Serzh Sargsyan liberated Artsakh and Fizuli, built an airport in Stepanakert; but you disapproved, you rejected it, and to this day you shamelessly try to slander again. Well, now go enjoy the airport Aliyev built in Artsakh and hear the humiliations, perhaps the ticket will be 50€ and your luck will let you fly to Milan.”
